Pittsburgh isn’t exactly an indie rock hotbed. Outside of, say, math rockers Don Caballero, the city hasn’t yielded any indie act that’s garnered much national attention. And yet that hasn’t stopped singer-guitarist Karl Hendricks from plugging away. He formed his trio back in 1991 and group even swelled to a quartet for a short time before trimming back down to a trio. The band’s new album, The Adult Section, features heavy rock tempered by Hendricks’ emo-ish vocals and recalls proto-indie acts such as Husker Du and the Minutemen. (Niesel)
