Kevin Costner and the Modern West/Whipping Post/Pompous Ass
Swing Vote, a film in which Kevin Costner plays a loveable loser who thinks his vote doesn't count, tanked at the box office. But the movie allowed Costner to flex his musical muscles on its theme song, "Backyard," a tune which became even more popular thanks to its NASCAR-endorsed video. Costner, who is classically trained on the piano, occasionally takes the country/roots rock band on the road and can play for a solid two hours. (Jeff Niesel)
