Kris Kristofferson

When: Thu., Aug. 8, 8 p.m. 2013
Price: $25-$45.50
Kris Kristofferson is sadly known more for his acting career and voice narration on documentaries than the songs that first made him famous. His music combines the simple country guitar style of Dylan with a deep sultry voice that always tells a story. Some of the artist’s most memorable work was done with the 1985 supergroup the Highwaymen which consisted of Kristofferson, Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings and Willie Nelson. His 2009 solo album was an uncompromising project that stuck to the one-man-one-guitar style of country. Now he appears on the 2013 release of Ghost Brothers of Darkland County featuring a slew of various artists from Elvis Costello and John Mellencamp to traditional country artists such as Sheryl Crow and Rosanne Cash. Kristofferson won’t make you cry with beautiful lyrics like John Prine but fans of old-school country will enjoy his honesty. (William Hoffman)
