Kulchur Shock

When: Fri., Nov. 8 2013
One of the coolest new little shops in Cleveland is a bookstore-cum-zine-paradise-cum-culture-salon in Detroit-Shoreway about which not enough people know. It’s Guide to Kulchur, manned and womanned by the superstar couple RA Washington and Lyz Bly. They’ve already held a 24-hour marathon zine-making party; they’ve already kickstarted a cool monthly dialogues series; and they’ve already assembled one of the most impressive collections of modernist literature and criticism (with popular titles to boot) in a boutique space near the Capitol Theatre. Head over this evening for a reading and dialogue with Alissa Nutting and Mark Anthony Cronin as they read from their new books. Nutting’s Tampa has enjoyed impressive popularity for a book about a sex predator. Cronin’s short story collection Gigantic Failures is one of those rare books which is the exact opposite of its title. Reading begins at 7 in the Sally Tatnall Black Box. (Sam Allard)
