Line dancing and trivia

Seeing Is Believing A video jock trumps those one-note DJs. By Cris Glaser Armed with a catalog of 16,000 hip-hop and Top 40 videos that he plays on two wide-screen TVs, VJ Impulse has kept Scoundrels regular Beth Stockard dancing since he was hired six months ago. "From the older crowd toward the end of happy hour to the younger crowd that comes in later, he blends it right in," says Stockard. "They literally take the tables out in the whole dining room. That's how many people are on the dance floor."

Even owner Bob Costanzo is amazed at the standing-room-only crowd that gathers when Impulse spins every Thursday and Saturday. Last month, he hired the VJ to host Gong Show Karaoke on Wednesdays, when patrons can sing along to videos by Billy Joel, Green Day, and Coldplay. "He knows how to play to a crowd," says Costanzo. "I have other bar owners that are trying to steal this kid from us. I have one who's offered him $1,000 a night to go and play!"
