The Flavor

Meet the Band: "Hot Sauce" Joe Landes (guitars and vocals), Dave "Mann Wolf" (guitar and vocals), Adam Rich (bass), and Ernie Richmann (drums)

A Different Flavor: In 2007, Rich and a pal were gathering musicians for a straight-up rock group when they picked up bluesmen Landes and Mann. The other dude left for law school, and the Flavor soon changed direction.

On the Horizon: The Flavor are working on their self-titled debut, which should be out sometime this year. The 14 original songs span 20th-century styles, with a strong blues foundation.

Don't expect a Behind the Music If They Ever Hit It Big: "We genuinely enjoy each other's company both onstage and off, and have a solid friendship outside of music," says Landes. "We have no grand illusions of becoming rock stars. We simply wish to make music."

Why We Say They Matter:

The Flavor combine blues, rock, and country. If you need a comfort-food reference, think a meaty stew featuring hearty slabs of Son House and Muddy Waters, with some Johnny Cash and Jimi Hendrix sprinkled in for spice.

Why They Say They Matter: "We're always looking for new creative outlets to offer a unique variety of original material," says Landes. "But we can also lay down some mean classic blues and rock tunes."
