Meet the Band: Austin Stambaugh (vocals, guitar), Cole McDonald (guitar), Alex Buchanan (bass, keyboards), and Joe Maybaugh (drums)
No, None of Them Are Shaun: Their friend Shawn suggested they name the band after him. The tribute didn't stick, but the name did: They changed the spelling to reflect the hero from Shaun of the Dead.
Sharp-Dressed Men:
The quartet's Ohio hometown — LaGrange — isn't the one ZZ Top sing about. The band's punky sound never lets on that they're from a southern Lorain County hamlet where country music and classic rock rule the roost.
Fun Fact: If you want to find the Shauns after a gig, look no further than the nearest Denny's, where they'll be basking in the glow of a gig with a short stack of pancakes bathed in butter and syrup.
Why They Say They Matter:
"We still have a load of ideas that we haven't put together yet," says Stambaugh.
Why We Say They Matter:
The band's self-released debut EP, Bangin', features a half-dozen tracks that channel early Replacements and Nirvana, without the slop. They have the musical chops and lyrics of bands twice their age. And they've already written a dozen new songs for their next record.
