Love Songs

When: Thu., April 24 2014
Soprano Amanda Forsythe, an international star, joins Apollo’s Fire tonight for the Power of Love, a program featuring the “passions of Handel and Vivaldi.” She’s not the only special guest. Olivier Brault and Johanna Novom will perform Vivaldi’s virtuosic Concerto in A minor for Two Violins and flutist Kathie Stewart will play Vivaldi’s Goldfinch Concerto in D major. The highlight will be a baroque jam session of sorts during Vivaldi’s La Folia (Madness). A pre-concert talk takes place at 6:30 and the concert follows at 7:30 at Fairlawn Lutheran Church. Repeat performances take place tomorrow and Saturday at 8 p.m. at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church and at 4 p.m. on Sunday at Rocky River Presbyterian Church. Tickets start at $21. (Niesel)
