Ludacris

Release Therapy (Island/Def Jam)

Although the single "Money Maker" earned heavy radio airplay, Ludacris received more attention recently for "War With God," a fierce diss track that circulated on mixtapes and helped promote his new CD, Release Therapy. On "War," he lets loose with a level of emotion sorely missing from earlier albums, which were bland affairs plagued with market-tested pap. Therapy is still pretty tame, with fluffy album tracks mostly padding the space between current and future singles ("Girls Gone Wild" is a good bet). But when Ludacris rants about the blue-collar struggle on "Mouths to Feed" and "Tell It Like It Is," he gives this album some much-needed color.
