You say today seems to suck a little more gently than most Mondays? Maybe that’s because of the Summer Garden Music series at Star Plaza. From now through July 30, your pals at Playhouse Square are serving up generously sized portions of musical entertainment every Monday from noon to 1:30 p.m. The outdoor concerts are free, and serve as showcases for a variety of local talent. Today’s mid-day music, for instance, is brought to you by Cleveland freelance cellist Kent Collier. Chances are you’ve heard him before: maybe at Blossom where he has performed as principal cellist with the Blossom Festival Orchestra…maybe playing with the dearly departed Red an Orchestra…or maybe as part of Blue Water Chamber Orchestra. As it happens, today’s concert is just part of Playhouse Square’s 2012 Summer Excitement program: With more than 70 free events and activities scheduled for Star Plaza this summer — including yoga classes, free lunches, and a district cornhole tournament — even the rest of the week isn’t shaping up too bad.
