In addition to the Cleveland Institute of Art’s Student Independent Exhibition opening tonight in its Reinberger Gallery, CIA’s Student and Alumni Gallery hosts new work by CIA alumnus Curlee Raven Holton. Following his studies at CIA, Holton earned his MFA from Kent State University. A painter and printmaker, his exhibition at CIA showcases work from throughout his more than 30-year career. Over the past 25 years, Holton’s work has been featured in more than 30 individual exhibitions and over 80 group shows, at venues such as the Cleveland Museum of Art, the Whitney Museum of American Art, Egypt’s Seventh International Biennale and many more. Before Friday’s opening, Holton will discuss his career and early days at CIA during a special Lunch on Fridays presentation in the Peter B. Lewis Theater at 12:15 p.m. today. Holton’s exhibition remains on view at CIA through March 19. As always, CIA’s Lunch on Fridays lecture series is free and open to the public, and free pizza and beverages are available on a first come, first served basis. (Usmani)
