Major Stars

Friday, November 30, at the Beachland Tavern.

Singer Kate Biggar and guitarist Wayne Rogers have quickly become the MVPs of Boston's Major Stars, a septet that threads white-hot psychedelic guitar licks through blues-soaked freight-train vocals. Over the past decade, the Stars built their rep on blistering live shows that are capable of stunning audiences in ways that their albums never can (though they do make the most of canned fury on the new Mirror/Messenger). Biggar and Rogers' onstage connection can be revelatory. And with the addition of two new guitarists, Major Stars' disorienting noise blasts satisfy even the pickiest of psych-rock fans. Expect the upgraded live experience to especially wow listeners who like their guitars sonically tempered and played at skin-tearing speeds.
