If you're unfamiliar with New York pianist Marco Benevento and his spot in the family tree of 1990s/2000s jam and experimental music scenes, you should fix that. Benevento and his dynamite band regularly play the Beachland, his "home away from home" as he calls it, to throw down sets that show off old and new songs. Benevento is an outlaw among pianists and a reputable member of multiple experimental branches of the jam band world. The current tour supports last year's live/studio hybrid album, Woodstock Sessions, recorded in front of a studio audience. Benevento is also currently working on his next studio record with producer Leon Michels (Chicano Batman, Lee Fields). (Eric Sandy)
