Matchbox 20/Phillip Phillips

When: Sun., Feb. 17, 7:30 p.m. 2013
Price: $49.50-$99.50
With his Caesar haircut and perma-frown, former Matchbox Twenty singer Rob Thomas takes himself pretty seriously. Too seriously, to be honest. The guy's got a voice that just cracks with heartache, especially when he's singing about being lonely at 3 a.m. That helped propel the band’s 1996 debut, Yourself or Someone Like You, to multi-platinum status and quickly turned the band into arena rock sensations. After the band took a hiatus in 2004, Thomas embarked on a solo career that yielded some success, but he rejoined the band two years ago. The guys are now touring behind last year’s North, a collection of pop ballads that are ultimately rather bland and forgettable despite the lush production and soaring string arrangements.
