Having landed gracefully on what could be called the top tier of nationally touring jam bands a while ago, the guys in moe. maintain their standing by constantly propelling their improvisational chops forward. Onward, upward. The last few times the band has stopped in Northeast Ohio, for instance, they’ve dropped bombs that arc across their entire career. Two years ago, they delivered an intricately woven seguefest at Kent State, with “The Pit” flowing into “Moth” deep in the second set for a thrilling pair of jams. If you’ve never been, know this: moe. is known in their circles for awesomely tight control over the direction of their improv work -- and they’ve got a real sense of heart and beauty behind that tractor-beam precision.
