Money Where Your Mouth Is

THIS WEEK: 03.09-03.15

Band: Alex Bevan (www.alexbevan.com)
Hometown: "Grew up in East Cleveland, lives in Madison Township now."
Sounds like: "Alex Bevan."
Fun fact: "I am able to leap to tall conclusions in a single bound."
Playing: Wilbert's, Sunday, March 12
Why you need to see him: "CD-release party and nostalgia night. And all the usual reasons." -- Alex Bevan, vocals-guitar

Band: B.E. Mann (www.bemann.com; www.myspace.com/bemann)
Hometown: Akron
Sounds like: "Reggae's Sanchez meets UROY & Shaggy, with a high-energy dance party sound to get your feet and booty groovin'."
Fun fact: "B.E. Mann is Ohio's most prolific indie recording artist (18 albums) and one of the busiest live-scene performers, with over 2,400 live shows under his belt; he tends to be lost in the shuffle of regional music coverage, because he is not rock and roll in a rock-and-roll region."
Playing: Jillian's (Akron), Saturday, March 11
Why you need to see him: "Four hours of great sing-along, dance-along, party-along music that is original, fresh, and very entertaining. High-energy reggae music unlike anything else in the eastern and midwestern U.S.A." -- B.E. Mann, vocals, guitars, keyboards, bass, and punanie

Band: Novallos (www.myspace.com/novallos)
Hometown: Cleveland
Sounds like: "Hot Water Music, Grade, Avail, A Wilhelm Scream."
Fun fact: "Are you aware that Gia Paloma and Coffee Ron tied the knot?"
Playing: The Pit Cleveland, Saturday, March 11
Why you need to see them: "Come see us, 'cause we are going to be on tour forever, and 'cause we love Manuel Ferrara as much as you do." -- Ryan Kelly, drums

Band: A Porno Holocaust (www.myspace.com/pornoholocaust)
Hometown: Lorain
Sounds like: "The soundtrack to pornographic Armageddon. Moderate doses of '50s rock and '70s funk, with a side of Dead Boys punk for good measure."
Fun fact: "Mark Fletcher sings for Kung Fu Grip, and Noah Buchanan (drums) and Donald Zpak (guitar) are in Amentia. Our bass player, Brian Fitzwater, is an accomplished jazz musician."
Playing: The Hi-Fi Concert Club, Saturday, March 11
Why you need to see them: "We have yet to decide on our sound. So you have an opportunity to see a band in the midst of either self-destruction or self-preservation." -- Mark Fletcher, vocals
