Monster Mash

When: Fri., Oct. 4 2013
Ice hockey is back in Northeast Ohio for another season with the Lake Erie Monsters, our AHL affiliate of the Colorado Avalanche. If you’re not a sports fan, and the matchup against the Abbotsford Heat isn’t enough to lure you to the Q, how about the opening night promotions? Not only will the first 10,000 fans get magnetic schedules — practical but pretty boring, we know — but it’s also dollar dog/dollar pop night, sponsored by Sugardale and Pepsi respectively, so you can feed the whole brood for about as much as a Reese’s Pieces over at Crocker Park. And get this: There’s a free skate after the game, so aspirant hockey players and figure skaters will get the chance to glide across the same zambonied ice as the pros. Tremendous date potential here. Tickets are dirt cheap, many for as low as $10. Puck drops at 7:30 p.m. (Allard)
