One of the most critically-acclaimed movies of 2012, Stories We Tell is a unique documentary which follows filmmaker Sarah Polley as she spelunks around the history and myths that circulate among her family members. She belongs to a family of storytellers, folks — legit storytellers — and the film is shot and constructed with the same compassion, curiosity and grace that comes with knowing, genetically, how to weave a really lovely yarn. The less you know going into this one, the better. The film is a personal journey, but isn’t overly pious or anything. It’s actually pretty damn funny at times. Check it out over at the Cinematheque tonight at 9:05 (right after Dead Man) and then on Sunday at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $9. (Allard)
