What can an earnest emo band do to differentiate itself from other groups that sob at the first sign of heartbreak? In the case of The Early November, it recorded a three-CD set, tentatively titled The Mother, the Mechanic, and the Path. "I don't want to say what it's about," says drummer Jeff Kummer. "It can be taken so many ways. We want people to figure it out on their own." The album, due in July, includes an acoustic disc, a rock set, and a third CD with dialogue. "We're not doing this just to be different," says Kummer. "We just wanted to do something big."
