Old Man Canyon/The Modern Electric/Baskery

When: Wed., June 18, 8:30 p.m. 2014
Price: $10
An initial stroll through Old Man Canyon’s Phantoms and Friends bring the listener to the same pastoralish territory that birthed bands like Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeroes and Lord Huron. And that’s not really a bad thing, because it’s that type of reflective, moody, acoustic thing that blends so nicely with our own wandering society these days. We’re a generation of people who don’t mind getting lost. Old Man Canyon’s music addresses our primal need to connect psychology with music. The opening title track on this album is radio-ready in the best sense. And “Wiser” puts you on the bow of a vast ship and asserts your ken broadly against the horizon. The world is yours, our musician here seems to say; enjoy it. (Sandy)
