On Stage This Week

Theater? Theater.

Grand Hotel: Mercury Summer Stock continues its 13th season with this rarely performed musical. Set in decadent Berlin during the Roaring Twenties, the plot weaves a masterful drama from the troubles of six disparate (and desperate!) characters thrown together for a weekend in the city's poshest hotel. Through July 30 at the Brooks Theatre in the Cleveland Play House, 8500 Euclid Ave. Adult admission is $18. Or carpool with four or more friends on July 20 or July 27 for $10 each; call 216-771-5862 or visit

Love's Labours Lost: Played on the grounds of Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens, Ohio Shakespeare Festival's rendition of this fairly insubstantial comedy is well-crafted and clearly enunciated. Director Terry Burgler is unsurpassed in interpreting Will's atomic word bombs. (Howey) At 714 North Portage Path, through July 23. Tickets are $15 to $30; visit

Love's Labours Lost: You're not seeing double: The Cleveland Shakespeare Festival is also performing this romantic comedy. But under the direction of Celeste Cosentino, the classic has been radically abridged and gender reversed. Through August 7. Free at various venues. See

Othello: In repertoire with Love's Labours Lost, Shakespeare's tragedy is performed by the Cleveland Shakespeare Festival through August 6. Free, in various venues across Northeast Ohio; go to

The Miracle at Naples: American playwright David Grimm's bawdy sex romp gets its Midwest debut from the always edgy Convergence-Continuum. Through July 23 at the Liminis Theater, 2438 Scranton Rd. Tickets: $15 general admission; call 216-687-0074 or visit

Sunshine Boys: Neil Simon's comedy continues at Porthouse Theatre on the grounds of Blossom Music Center (at 1145 Steels Corners Rd. in Cuyahoga Falls) through July 23. Tickets are $19 to $33; call 330-672-3884 or visit
