Patio Guide: Spice Kitchen + Bar

Clevelanders seeking to steal away from the daily grind need not look further than the patio of Spice Kitchen and Bar located on the edge of the burgeoning Gordon Square Arts District.

A little urban oasis, the intimate Spice courtyard offers thirsty locals a place to unwind and experience some of Cleveland’s premiere farm-to-bar craft cocktails, all hand-prepared by drink connoisseur Dave Hridel and his team of skillful bartenders.

Try a Strawberry Julep (bourbon, Ohio strawberry puree, lemon, and fresh mint) or a Bandito Smash (Reposado tequila, muddled cucumber, cilantro, ginger liqueur, and lemon) with ingredients harvested at the peak of their ripeness and often just minutes before arriving to your table.

Sample even more seasonal concoctions at one or all four of Spice’s monthly Farm-to-Bar-Cocktail Classes, beginning July 27th and which run through October 12th.

Each $50 session will highlight unique garden ingredients, which Hridel will transform into several different plant-inspired drinks paired with fresh, mouth-watering menu items that complement each tasting. Leave with cocktail recipes to try at home.

For more delectable offers visit Spice Kitchen and Bar online at spicekitchenandbar.com or at the brick and mortar location, 5800 Detroit Avenue.

We’re keeping you informed…
...and it’s what we love to do. From local politics and culture to national news that hits close to home, Scene Magazine has been keeping Cleveland informed for years.

It’s never been more important to support local news sources, especially as we all deal with the ramifications of the coronavirus pandemic. Almost everything Scene is about -- our stories, our events, our advertisers -- comes down to getting together. With events on hold, and no print distribution for the foreseeable future, every little bit helps.

A free press means accountability and a well-informed public, and we want to keep our unique and independent reporting available for many, many years to come.

If quality journalism is important to you, please consider a donation to Scene. Every reader contribution is valuable and so appreciated, and goes directly to support our coverage of critical issues and neighborhood culture. Thank you.
