Polka Party

When: Sat., Feb. 7 2015
Cleveland was once home to the late, great polka star Frankie Yankovic, so it makes sense that a movie such as Polka! The Movie would be filmed here. The movie, which screens today at 4 p.m. at the Cleveland Institute of Art Cinematheque, documents how Cleveland-style polka became a national sensation. It includes interviews, vintage film clips and images of old photos. Joe Valencic, president of the National Cleveland-Style Polka Hall of Fame and Museum, co-wrote the film. He’ll attend tonight’s screening to answer questions. An accordion jam session precedes the screening at 3:30 p.m. Tickets are $10. (Niesel)
