When: Wed., Oct. 23 2013
Scott Raab, cantankerous Cleveland sports fan, Esquire editor-at-large and author of The Whore of Akron, will be in town today. He's swinging by the Happy Dog at 7:30 p.m. for a talk or Q&A or whatever he damn well pleases. Raab's book tour for The Whore of Akron was what kickstarted the Ohio City Writers' Write to Assemble Series, and the back-n-forth with co-panelist Jimi Izrael and the assembled beer-drinkers remains one of the more rowdy and wonderful in the series' history. He's always an entertaining, if disgruntled, extemporaneous speaker, and he embodies the ethos of Cleveland sports fans more consummately than any working writer today. Maybe that's why CSU is enlisting his services as well. He'll be reading at CSU (in Student Center Room 313) tomorrow at 7 p.m. If you miss out tonight, go check him out tomorrow. (Allard)
