TOP PICK — Radiohead: The Best Of (Capitol/EMI)
The two-CD Best Of includes 30 songs that range from "Creep" to Hail to the Thief. You really should own the original albums (start with The Bends and OK Computer), but cuts like "No Surprises" and "Fake Plastic Trees" hold up out of context. The DVD (available separately) is even better, featuring 21 mind-blowing videos — like "There There"'s freaked-out fairy tale.

DVD — Control, Joy Division (Genius Products, Weinstein Company)
Both of these movies focus on frontman Ian Curtis' tragic tale — he hanged himself just as his gloomy post-punk band was at its peak. Control is an artsy biopic; Joy Division is an informative documentary. Both feature tons of terrific music.

DVD — James Stewart: The Western Collection (Universal)
Stewart's westerns are trickier than John Wayne's. Most of the time, Stewart's heroes are just as conflicted, drunk, and malicious as the villains they're tracking. This six-disc collection includes the comedy Destry Rides Again, but it's 1950's Winchester '73 — about a rifle and its various owners, who eventually shoot it out in the mountains — which resonates the most.

VIDEO GAME — Lego Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures (LucasArts)
The Lego Star Wars series is one of our all-time favorites. This super-fun game (for pretty much every console) plays just like them. The whip-wielding hero and his brick-shaped pals take on foes in familiar scenes from the first three Indiana Jones movies. The visual jokes (is that Luke Skywalker hanging in a cave?) and zippy game play keep things moving.

CD — Frank Zappa: Wazoo (Vaulternative)
This two-disc set commemorates the 35th anniversary of Zappa's The Grand Wazoo with a live show recorded in Boston in 1972. It's an art-rock extravaganza, as Zappa leads his 20-member band through a jazzy, free-form gig that includes some dude rocking a contrabass sarrusphone. After all these years, Wazoo still sounds like nothing out there.
