Rivalry Renewed

When: Thu., Oct. 17, 7 p.m. 2013
Rejuvenated by the defensive exhortations of Mike Brown, the Cavs played well in their preseason opener against the Bucks. After a road game in Orlando, the Cavs are back home facing their division rivals the Detroit Pistons. Both Cleveland and Detroit should be vying for playoff spots in the East this year, and this match-up should be a decent preview of the teams’ final rotations. Look for a battle on the boards as Varejao and Thompson go toe to toe with the Detroit bigs Greg Monroe, Andre Drummond and Josh Smith. Also, look for continued development of exciting rookies Anthony Bennett, Sergey Karasev and Carrick Felix. Tickets can be purchased for as little as $6, but Drug Mart’s a sponsor, and if you buy two 12-packs of Pepsi products, you’ll get six tickets free. That’s a crazy deal. Tip-off is at 7 p.m. (Allard)
