Roman Exile

When: Wed., Feb. 19 2014
When an old enemy threatens Rome, they call upon their hero, Coriolanus. On top of facing the external threat, he must confront the issues that threaten Rome's infrastructure: famine and the citizen's uprising. The tragic play explores the plight of the real-life 5th-century Roman, Caius Marcius Coriolanus, who was exiled from Rome and subsequently attacked the city. Tom Hiddleston (Loki from the Thor and Avengers films) plays the titular lead in Shakespeare’s Coriolanus. Directed by Josie Rourke, who's directed her fair share of the bard to much acclaim, this blood-soaked tragedy delivers with all the passion and might one would expect from Shakespeare's historical plays. This one-night presentation of the film of the performance starts tonight at 7 at the Cedar Lee Theatre. Tickets are $20. (Stoops)
