Romanian Fest in Cleveland

When: Aug. 17-19 2012
Phone: 216-941-5550
Price: Free
"Eat your sarmale!" That’s stuffed cabbage in Romanian. And since the fine ladies of St. Mary Romanian Orthodox Cathedral are cooking up more than 4,000 of them, you should have no trouble finding enough to eat during the seventh annual St. Mary Romanian Festival, August 17 to 19. Of course, there are many other tasty treats to enjoy at the festival, including the ever-popular mamaliga cu branza, which is polenta baked with sour cream and cheese. Also on the menu: homemade sausage and sauerkraut, roasted chicken, and home-baked pastries, including the fabulous elephant ears. You’re not going to find a bigger selection of sweets anywhere else in Cleveland. Romania’s award-winning wines and beer are also on the menu. Live music and dancing all weekend. Get out to enjoy the festivities at St. Mary Romanian Orthodox Cathedral, 3256 Warren Rd., Cleveland, ½ mile south of I-90 at the Warren Rd. exit. Free admission and free parking. Hours are Friday from 4:30 to 11 p.m., Saturday 2 to 11 p.m., and Sunday noon to 10 p.m. For further information, call 216-941-5550 or www.
