Sander van Doorn went from an amateur Trance and House producer to a globe-trotting, A-list DJ/producer at a steady and impressive pace. At the early years of his career, reputable veterans like Carl Cox, Armin van Buuren and Tiesto praised him, and now he’s amongst the same ranks as them. It only took him two years from the start of his career to make it as No. 32 on DJ Mag’s “Top 100 DJs” list in 2006. And that wouldn’t be the only time he would make it on that infamous list; his placement on the most recent rankings: No. 18. The last couple of years for him have been steady in terms of productions, not only releasing his second studio album, Eleve11, but also releasing a number of solid club tracks like “Drink to Get Drunk,” “What Did I Do,” “Joyenergizer” and “Ten,” his most recent collaboration with Mark Knight and Underworld. But his most impressive — and surprising — accomplishment was having his single “Nothing Inside” signed to Jay-Z’s Roc Nation label in late 2012. This deal may very well foreshadow Sander’s popularity growing even more in the states, so 2013 shows a lot of hope for the Dutch producer. But no matter how popular he gets, he’s still impervious to people misspelling his name as “Sander van Doom,” which makes him sound like some kind of infamous barbarian from the Middle Ages.
