Scottish Frights

Once called “the Citizen Kane of horror films,” 1973's The Wicker Man follows the exploits of a British policeman as he attempts to find a girl who’s gone missing in a small Scottish island. In the process of searching for the lost child, he discovers the townspeople are into some strange pagan rituals. Though it might be classified as a horror film, The Wicker Man is so campy and weird, the scares are actually more psychological than physical. Tonight at 7 at the Capitol Theatre, the Cleveland Institute of Art Cinematheque shows the 40th anniversary digitally restored director’s cut of the film. Tickets are $10. (Niesel)

 Civilization
2366 West 11th St., Cleveland

This Tremont coffee joint feels like a blast from the past. With a wood-paneled interior, dim-lighting and wooden furniture, the space gives you the feeling of being in an Enlightenment-era French salon. Along with fine coffees, it offers a large selection of bakery and food options, including chocolate and croissants.

Filter out all those " mistake on the lake" comments from people who have never even been here. Cleveland is an underrated town, which is fine by me. Bloom where you are planted.
