Often credited with opening the door for underground Japanese acts, the Japanese punk rock Shonen Knife has been together for 38 years. They were an all-female band in a time when all-female acts were scarce. They also created their own outfits. Their latest album, Sweet Candy Power, features Ramones-like rave-ups (“Party”), pop-punk gems ("California Lemon Trees") and dissonant punk rock screamers (“Sweet Candy Power”). Me Like Bees opens the show. After completing a leg on the Vans Warped Tour, the band recorded the EP There Will Be Time with award-winning producer John Feldmann (Five Seconds of Summer, the Used, Goldfinger). Last year, the group teamed up with Image Comics (The Walking Dead) to create a soundtrack for a new comic called The REALM. (Niesel)
