Show Your Colors at the Zoo

When: Wed., July 4, 10 a.m.-7 p.m. 2012
Phone: 216-661-6500
Price: $8.25 to $12.25
While there’s no obvious connection between the Fourth of July and exotic animals, “blue” does rhyme with “zoo,” something the marketing folks at the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo apparently realized. Still, Red, White, and Zoo is shaping up to be good old-fashioned fun. You can lead the family on a “self-paced, guided tour” hunting for critters like the new grizzly bear cubs. Or you can see live animal presentations at the Ballarat Theater. “It’s not often you get the Fourth of July in the middle of the week like this,” says zoo spokesman Joe Yachanin. “It’s a perfect day for the family or even a date.” Gates open at 10 a.m. with extended hours until 7 p.m. Adult admission is $12.25 and $8.25 for kids ages 2 to 11. A full schedule of events is posted on the zoo website.
