Soul Show

When: Fri., Oct. 3 2014
The story about how Berry Gordy, a featherweight boxer, turned Motown Records into one of the most significant record labels in the country is an incredible one. The Detroit imprint launched the careers of acts such as Diana Ross, Michael Jackson and Smokey Robinson. Motown the Musical, a hit on Broadway, chronicles Berry’s remarkable success. The play opens tonight at 8 at the State Theatre on Playhouse Square, where it runs through Oct. 19. Tickets are $10 to $100. (Niesel)
