Way back in the 1980s, Brazilian-born singer-guitarist Max Cavalera started Sepultura when he and his brother Igor were still teenagers. That band left an incredible legacy (and the group still exists but without the Cavaleras). Cavalera explored his heritage with Sepultura and then with Soulfly. He also explores straight-up metal on Cavalera Conspiracy’s recent album, the aptly titled Pandemonium. It features blistering guitar riffs and parched vocals. It’s heavy stuff, even by heavy metal standards. Cavalera came through Cleveland earlier this year with Cavalera Conspiracy. Tonight, he returns with Soulfly on the We Sold Our Souls to Metal Tour. The tour supports the heavy new Soulfly album Archangel. (Niesel)
