Time again for Spree for All, the annual spring hiking series from Metroparks Serving Summit County. Since 2004, the innovative program has been encouraging Northeast Ohioans of all ages and abilities to shake off the winter dust and enjoy the great outdoors. They make it almost ridiculously easy: Just complete five hikes of any length before June 30. The designated trails have been specially chosen to accommodate users of all abilities — which generally means smooth surfaces and no steep hills. Hikes can be on five different trails, the same trail five times, or any combination of trails. Complete the Spree and you’ll earn prizes, too: a lanyard and commemorative pin for newbies, and a commemorative pin for veteran hikers. Spree for All is free for all, although non-Summit County residents have to pay a nominal fee to get their prizes. You can download trail guides and registration forms on the website.
