Stan's Not the Man

When: Sun., Dec. 28 2014
The Cavs played the Heat on Christmas Day, as you surely saw. In each of the past four years, this would have been required viewing: a chance to see the underdog Cavaliers go against the man who abandoned them and the bacchanalian town which he both endorsed and embodied on live national TV. This year, with LeBron back in the wine and gold, the narrative was a bit less powerful. Dwyane Wade, Chris Bosh and Luol Deng are struggling to get anything going down in South Beach — “Age,” as Bilbo Baggins famously said, “has finally caught up with [them]." Nonetheless, the NBA's new specialty Christmas jerseys were fun. Tonight, back at the Q, the Cavs take on the Eastern Conference’s most tragic and chaotic roster: the Detroit Pistons. Enjoy this Sunday matinee horror show at 4:30 p.m. There's always the chance that Detroit's president and head coach Stan Van Gundy will blow a blood vessel. Tickets start at $25. (Allard)
