Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions

Of all the superhero video game series, the ones with Spider-Man are the most consistent. They're also the most fun, since you get to beat down bad guys and zip around the city on a badass web. The latest entry (for pretty much every console) has a ho-hum plot, but the fast-moving levels will keep you furiously button-mashing. Where's Doc Ock when you need him?

Halo: Reach

Fall's first big release (for the Xbox 360) is a prequel to the other excellent Halo games, and once again it delivers. The single-player campaign goes deep into the series' mythos and is loads of fun. But the real action is in the improved multiplayer mode, where new weapons, vehicles, and maps make this one of the best Halos ever. Those leaves are gonna have to wait.

One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest 35th Anniversary Ultimate Collector's Edition

One of the best movies of all time gets super-sized in this deluxe set, which features posters, playing cards, and a bunch of extras. Best are a terrific feature-length documentary and some deleted scenes. The 1975 Oscar-hogging movie still hits hard, thanks to Jack Nicholson's award-winning performance. But you'll go crazy for all the supporting actors too.

Hank Williams: The Complete Mother's Best Recordings ... Plus!

(Time Life)

One of the year's most extravagant box sets (it's packaged as an old-fashioned radio, which plays excerpts) features more than 70 15-minute radio shows starring the country-music legend. The 16 discs include songs and interviews from the early '50s that haven't been heard since Truman was President. It's a fascinating document, filled with great performances.

TCM Greatest Films Collection: Hammer Horror

Just in time for Halloween, the latest entry in this great DVD series gathers four films from one of the greatest horror studios. The Curse of Frankenstein, Dracula Has Risen From the Grave, and Frankenstein Must Be Destroyed are bloody good movies starring Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee. Horror of Dracula is one of the bloodsucker's very best.
