Tonight, the Boston Pops and vocal group Rockapella will perform
Our '70s Show, featuring music from the era of big hair, leisure suits, and polyester. "We used to do old-timer nights," says Dennis Alves, artistic planning director for the Pops. "But then we realized that that generation was disappearing." Tonight's super-groovy concert appeals to more than just baby boomers, says Alves; people in their 20s and 30s are also digging it. "Even my own kids, who are teenagers, know this music." The set includes movie tunes, TV songs, and AM radio hits; expect to hear everything from the
Star Wars score to the
Happy Days theme. Says Alves: "People identify so vividly with this music."
