If you missed the Oscar shorts at the Capitol Theatre last week, bummer, but there’s an opportunity to broaden your Oscar knowledge with a screening of one of the Best Foreign Language nominees tonight at the Cleveland Institute of Art Cinematheque. The Great Beauty is the nominee from Italy and is, by all accounts, a marvel. It’s about a journalist and novelist — so European! — who's been at the center of Rome’s literary and social circles for decades. On his 65th birthday, he finds himself doing some self-analysis and discovering a new and more glorious Rome (beyond the nightclubs and literary cafes). Critics agree that this one is “dazzling” and “charming” and all that stuff. Great for a date. It screens tonight at 9:05, tomorrow at 6:45 p.m. and Sunday at 1:15 p.m. Three chances! Tickets are $9.
