Rap music is a genre defined by indulgence and lavishness. Most of its stars are egomaniacs whose musical prowess is easily outshone by their self-promotion. That's why a guy like Josh Sallee, a rap star from Oklahoma, is so unique. When a monster tornado recently ripped through the state, he formed a team of volunteers who rushed to ground zero to deliver food and goods to help the victims. When the community needed a shining star to promote the benefit concert to support the area, his name graced the billboard. His latest single "Saratoga" recalls another lanky kid that used to frequent the club scene in Cleveland by the name of MGK. But where Kells thrives on rage and angst, Sallee thrives on hope and compassion. That refreshing attitude and spirit has produced a sprawling fan base that supports him in major markets like Dallas and Houston. He'll be a great fit for tonight’s show that features co-headliners Zup and Veeno. (Ryan Gilkerson)
