Now that the summer’s mood swings between pouring rain and a summer swelter have subsided, few things beat a hike through the park as the sun begins to set. The Cross Country Trail at Cuyahoga Valley National Park will probably fall somewhere between “mildly challenging” and “are we there yet?” for those attempting to rough the terrain with a one of CVNP’s park rangers. The park has a host of similar events happening this month, so it may finally be time to pick a pair of hiking boots out of that L.L. Bean catalog — wait, never mind. Does anybody even still get that L.L. Bean catalog? Anyway, head over to the Kendall Lake Shelter at 7 tonight. Registration isn’t required; go to nps.gov/cuva for more info. (Jacob DeSmit)
