With her directorial debut, Tehran Taboo, Iranian-born director Ali Soozandeh provides a compelling critique of the oppression that women experience in her native country. The animated flick centers on a prostitute and a musician, and the young people with whom they interact. It makes its local debut tonight at 6:45 at the Cleveland Institute of Art Cinematheque, where it screens again at 8:55 on Saturday night. Tickets are $10, or $7 for Cinematheque members and students. (Niesel)
