The Avett Brothers/Trombone Shorty/Orleans Avenue

When: Fri., Sept. 20, 7:30 p.m. 2013
Price: $45.50-$50.50
As the leaves of Northeast Ohio turn toward the crisp palette of reds and oranges and yellows, lovers of good music are in for a real treat. The Avett Brothers’ soulful tour is going to set up along the banks of the Cuyahoga River for a sure-to-be unforgettable evening. While I and Love and You remains one of the touchstone albums of the past 10 years, 2012’s The Carpenter never quite lived up to its predecessor. (Do cycle back to check out “Winter in my Heart,” though; that song is an evocative lament.) The follow-up, Magpie and the Dandelion, is due out Oct. 15. The band released the single “Another is Waiting” recently, giving listeners a tease of the upbeat production values on the forthcoming record. Beyond the studio, however, the band just absolutely delivers onstage. Their shows are notoriously incredible (a 2012 stand at Bonnaroo’s What Stage left some audience members sacrificing their minds to brutal heat stroke just to catch the entirety of the set [including, memorably, yours truly]).
