The First of Three

When: Sat., Aug. 8 2015
With music from Ravi Shankar and a screenplay by Satyajit Ray, Pather Panchali is not to be missed. The simple yet poignant story of a young boy is the first of three films chronicling his life. Filmed in 1955, the film shows the immense poverty that’s spread across India and the optimism that still lies within the impoverished. Showgoers can expect to leave appreciating the simple things as the film offers a brief escape from first-world problems. The movie shows at 7:05 p.m. at the Cleveland Institute of Art Cinematheque. Tickets are $9. (Rees)
