When: Sun., Aug. 9, 1-3 p.m. 2015
One of the oldest and most essential tools of the home has been the besom, also known as broom. The word "broom" derives from the name of certain thorny shrubs and grassy fibers used for sweeping; however, this iconic tool holds many iterations, steeped in folklore and ritual. Join local artist Melissa Daubert as she leads our broom-making studio and talk, and takes us on a compelling journey centered around the history and folklore of the broom.
