The French Connection

When: Sat., Aug. 24, 9:30 p.m. 2013
Price: $9
A French New Wave film by director Jacquess Rivette, Le Pont du Nord (The North Bridge) wasn’t released in the U.S. when it originally came out in 1981. A companion piece of sorts to the director’s 1974 film Celine and Julie Go Boating, it centers on two women — a motorcyclist and an ex-con — who meet one day in Paris and find a briefcase that’s evidence of some kind of conspiracy. Shot as if it were a documentary, the movie is worth seeing just for the scenes of the Parisian street life and architecture. It shows at 9:30 p.m. tonight and at 8:30 p.m. on Sunday at the Cleveland Institute of Art Cinematheque. Tickets are $9. (Niesel)
