Set in the late 1940s, after Cleveland Indians just won the 1948 World Series, The Kid from Cleveland, a 1949 drama that features cameos by players such as Bill Veeck, Hank Greenberg, Bob Feller, Satchel Paige and Larry Doby, centers on how a baseball team inspires a down-on-his luck youngster (Russ Tamblyn) to get his life together. The movie shows tonight at 7 at the Maltz Museum of Jewish Heritage. Baseball historian Morris Eckhouse of the Baseball Heritage Museum will lead a talk-back session led.
