The Legacy of Larry Doby: An Evening with Larry Doby Jr and Jim “Mudcat” Grant
When: Wed., July 29, 7-8:30 p.m. 2015
Celebrate the achievements of Larry Doby, the first African-American to play in the majors for the American League in 1947 in Cleveland, Ohio—just three months after Jackie Robinson made his National League debut. Special guests include Larry Doby, Jr. and Jim “Mudcat” Grant (1954 Indians, and Larry Doby’s roommate) as they share their own stories and memories of Larry Doby. This once-in-a-lifetime opportunity is co-presented with the Jewish Federation of Cleveland. (Program includes admission to the Maltz Museum and to Chasing Dreams: Baseball & Becoming American. Visitors are encouraged to arrive early to tour the galleries and the exhibition.)
