The Lottery League Big Show

When: Sat., April 13, 2 p.m. 2013
Price: Free
You gotta like the premise to the Lottery League, an event that randomly pairs local musicians with other musicians with whom they’ve never performed and gives them two months to come up with a set. Overseen by a trio of locals that calls itself the “Council of Chiefs,” the event came together earlier this year with a “draft night” that yielded some 42 bands based composed of the 200 musicians who enlisted in the “draft.” At today’s event, dubbed the “Big Show,” the resulting bands will perform short 15-minute sets. Because organizers are using both stages at the Agora, the music will run continuously until 1:15 a.m. (though there will be a few 30-minute intermissions). While most of the bands will loosely fall into the wide-ranging “indie rock” category, a few classical and hard rock musicians signed up for the event and that should help provide some musical diversity.
