The Meaning of Life

When: Sat., Sept. 21 2013
Monty Python journeys to Cleveland, Ohio, and the Cedar Lee theater for a special screening of Meaning of Life, the British comedy troupe’s 1983 musical sketch film which chronicles life from birth to organ transplant to the Autumn years and beyond. John Cleese, Eric Idle, Terry Gilliam, Graham Chapman and the gang star. Unlike two of their earlier movies, Holy Grail and Life of Bryan, which told single, more-or-less coherent stories, Meaning of Life is more like an evening of British SNL, with music and wacky antics and all sorts of 1980s British accents. It screens tonight at midnight as part of the Cleveland Cinemas’ Late Shift movie series and is indeed a cultural requisite for students of both comedy and Great Britain. Tickets are $5. (Allard)
